This was the tear-jerking moment little Ari Schultz was told he would be getting a new heart.
The poorly little boy was diagnosed with critical aortic stenosis when he was still in the womb and has been in and out of hospital since birth.
But in a delightful video taken by his dad, the little baseball fan was told he would finally be getting a new heart.
In it, he can be heard asking his parents “So I can go home tomorrow?” after he is told the good news.
And his father replies: “Not tomorrow, but soon after.”
He has been living as an inpatient at Boston Children’s Hospital while he waited for the perfect match.
Last week, his family posted an update a blog entry titled ‘A New Hope’ in which they wrote explaining that the operation was a success.
They said: “Ari’s new heart began beating in his chest spontaneously at 11:32 p.m. on Friday, March
“As of now, he’s stable in the cardiac intensive care unit.
“He is deeply sedated and has a breathing tube in. He looks like he’s resting comfortably.”
And they added on a YouTube page. “We are forever thankful for the donor and donor families sacrifice, and will think about them every day for the rest of our lives.”
